We all got together with Elder Durfey, from Highland, Utah, my sister’s next door neighbor, and his companion, Elder Fenn. They are assigned the branch nearby where we live here in Umhlanga.
The Elders dazzled us with their ability to speak Zulu, clicking and all! It’s really a beautiful language and a tough one to learn. Doug and I have been studying Zulu on Duolingo ever since we got our mission call. We are trying to master the various clicks and it is a challenge!
Thursday and Friday last week all the elders in the temple district joined us at the temple for a couple of endowment sessions. It was absolutely electric to be in their presence, the Spirit abounding. After the endowment sessions, we brought extra stools in to the celestial room so the elders could linger, read scripture and partake of the Spirit as long as they liked. They did not want to leave. What an amazing assembly of valiant priesthood! We don’t have any sister missionaries at this time in the district for safety reasons. The elders are doing an amazing job of seeking out the pure of heart, those seeking Truth. We have many investigators at church on Sundays.
The Elders were not speaking Zulu to us obviously. We had a couple of Zulu members join us…
This cute Zulu sister is the Young Women’s president in her ward and joined us for the gathering, along with her baby Hazel. She needed a place to stay so the Loveridge’s offered their extra room to her. She traveled many miles to be able to attend the sealing of her chosen sister. Often in Africa, people embrace those who need a family as if their own . Her baby Hazel stole everyone’s hearts— adorable! She really enjoyed her yogurt.
A picture and a note for Elder Fenn’s family proving he saw the Loveridge’s!

Fear not, little flock, the kingdom is yours until I come. Behold, I come quickly. Even so. Amen.
