Regulars at the temple

After a month here in the Durban temple, we have gotten to see some of the same faces return regularly and have realized there is nothing regular (other than their attendance) about these amazing people. They are a temple-attending people and we love them!

Meet the Slabberts, Vanessa and Andre. After a few times seeing them at the temple, we were fast friends. They invited all of us to their home for dinner after church on Sunday. It’s a beautiful historic South African home built in 1935 by the British, our first authentic South African invite—what a delight!

We’ve gotten to know Analisa (on the right) really well as she is one of our Portuguese interpreters at the temple. We’ve kind of adopted her as she lives in Patron Housing right now due to her job being away from home, family and friends. We took her to see the ocean last week, her first time ever! So back to our story, we brought her along with us to dinner at the Slabberts. Come to find out, the Slabberts’ son is the missionary that taught and baptized Analisa like 12 years ago!! What a great reunion!!

Their favorite scripture on the wall and their word for the year!

The monkeys take a bite out of the avocado when it’s still green, and then throw it away so there are only a few avocados left. Darn vermin!
